Now that the term is nearly over, I'm thinking about the summer. I should certainly get Ekaterin over to help in our garden again. Compared to what she's working on professionally though -- I mean, the Vorrutyers have asked her to design a garden! -- our little yard is nothing. It would be a short afternoon's work for her, unless she brings the children of course.
I can deal with Nikki even now that he's a teenager. And the little girl Helen is no trouble at all. But that Aral Alexander! I now am certain that the Vorkosigans would have worn themselves out just dealing with Miles as a toddler, if he hadn't been so restricted physically. Aral is just the spitting image of his father -- but with no restrictions at all!
I do worry about poor Kat sometimes. The Professor tells me that Miles is embroiled in a very complicated case, so Kat is left to manage the children and the house all alone. If it were not for the little boy, I'd be over there every day helping out. He's a huge part of why she needs help, but he's so mischievous that a whole army of servants and relatives can't keep up with him, let alone his poor harried mother. |

So, rumor has it that Viceroy-Count Vorkosigan may be stepping down from his post on Sergyar, and returning to just being the Count again. I'd be so happy to have him and his wife back on Barrayar, since for all intents and purposes I am their son Miles' mother-in-law. I think Ekaterin could use a little help with the children, and if Aral and Cordelia were successful with Miles, they certainly could handle little Helen and Aral junior. (Oh dear, if his grand-da really is here full time, he'll need a nickname. After the stunt with the lightflyer, I am half-convinced to suggest "Miles Jr." but of course that wouldn't help with the confusion.) |
